ABOUT GREVENA PREFECTURE
Grevena prefecture with big mountains, immense forests and abundant waters, is found in southwestern utmost Macedonia, bordering on Thessalia. It is offered for mountainous campaigns in virgin forests with firs and pines, while it is the best solution for those who want to pass their vacations with calm and relaxation.
The capital of prefecture is built in the banks of Greveniti, tributary of river Aliakmona, a region with lot of green. It has cool climate the summertime, while it can become the base for excursions in other adjacent localities. The central square of city gathers tourists, while the various shops that exist there, serve various local foods and sweets, and when somebody has appetite, we would recommend trying also the local wine of region.
Grevena prefecture have many historical bridges, works of times of Ottoman domination. All this work built up from popular self-instructive craftsmen and are worthy admiration so much for their technique as long as for the aesthetics they present. These are: Alli Pasa Bridge, the Stone Bridge and Bridges Pramoritsas, Papataki, Dasylliou, Kastrou, Spanou, Stavropotamou, Aziz-aga, Kagelia, Katsougianni, Zaka, Dotsikou, Liatissa, Portitsa, Stampeki and Matsagani.
