Heraklio, from 1971 took the staff from Chania and became not only the capital of prefecture, but also of all Crete. The prefecture Heraklio as the biggest prefecture of island and over-populated has the bigger income per person.

The valleys behind the city of Heraklio, there where the eminent Palace of Knosos was discovered, produce tasteful grapes. You should visit the monasteries, Valsamonerou, Vrontisiou, and Agios Georgios of Gorgolaini, Agarathou, Agios Georgios of Epanosifi, Kalyvianis, Koudouma and Palianis.

The city of Heraklion, is the fifth in size city of Greece and is lived by the prehistoric years and presumed that it was the harbour of Knosos. Ammoudara and Linoperamata are near coastal settlements with many people and fully organized beaches. The cavern of Eileithuias, is a big centre of adoration of view of childbirths. Do not forget to pass from there in order to admire this astonishing creation of ancient people.
